I imagined better from imagine dragons
The band and crowd energy were unmatched and lifted the night above a mediocre sound check job. I felt transported into a J R R Tolkien novel as the dragon eyes peered out during a great intro. Right from the start of Round and Round, it was clear that something was off. The vocals were barely audible, only coming through on the louder choruses. Without knowing the lyrics and the crowd singing along, I would have been completely lost. This issue persisted through multiple songs, which was disappointing. It was surprising that no one in the sound booth or on stage noticed and fixed the problem. We eventually moved back by the sound booth, where the vocals improved but the guitar was too low. The acoustics of the venue were poorly managed. While the performance was overall fantastic, I wished they had included more "older" songs like All Eyes, cover up, pantomime, drive, America, curse, Emma, I need a minute, which were not played. Despite their youth, there is ample room for improvement. I look forward to seeing them again with slightly tempered expectations, as this was a good warm-up for The Killers show(s) I have planned in the coming months. Maybe bands like U2 have spoiled me with their ability to transform large venues into Bose headphones.
